In search of food, food and glorious food through Rendezvous With Kitchen Flavours, Scrummy Sunday Showcase I landed up at Rachana Nabar's The Gourmet Launchpad. Rachana says her blog The Gourmet Launchpad is an effort to pen down all the culinery experiments that go on in my kitchen. This is an attempt to put together not only exotic recipes but also 'Quick meals' which can be ready to go. Most of my cooking is inspired by my mother who is not only an expert in Maharashtrian recipes but also loves improvising. This blog is also inspired by many food blogs which I regularly visit in search of variety, some of my friends who often send me their success stories for me to try out and last but not the least, my husband who is often the guinea pig for my tests and trials.
Rachana of The Gourmet Launchpad says her "My Five Favourite's" are:
My Favorite Cuisine – My mom’s cooking rules any day. But I also love roadside sandwiches or chaat in Mumbai or amazing misal-paav or jhunka-bhaakri in Pune. International cooking favorites include – Burmese, Thai or Malaysian cuisine. I am currently also developing a liking for Cajun food.
My Favorite Book/ Novel/Magazine – All of John Grisham novels, Alchemist, Memoires of Geisha, All of Ayn Rand books, Maximum City by Suketu Mehta, Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, Gone with the Wind (my list is endless)
My Favorite Film – Jerry Maguire, LOTR, DDLJ, Taare Zameen Par, Slumdog Millionaire, Ghajini, Body of Lies etc etc………
My Favorite Pastime (interests) – Travelling, Trekking, Reading, Watching movies or just simply enjoying quiet time with my famil.y
My Favorite Place – Mumbai (always, after all, the city has all of my cherished childhood memories), next favorites are NY city and San Francisco.
Rachana of The Gourmet Launchpad says coming from a Maharashtrian background, specifically GSB (Gaud Saraswat Brahmin), my taste buds are more sensitive to spicy and sharp flavors - from misal-paav to sol kadhi and from Kombadi wade to suka bombil. Talking about her finger licking favourites, which she likes to indulge are,
1. Aloo Paratha – My love for this paratha bloomed after frequent visits to a paratha shack off Juhu beach. Now I make it at home since visits to India are so few. But this has also given me a chance to gain mastery over cooking my favorite comfort food.

2. Yogurt Cake – The most easy to make cake, my granny used to make it when I was a kid. If weight gain was not a concern, I could finish this whole cake in 1 sitting!
3. Chicken Biryani – A quick Biryani recipe with preparation time of less than 10 mins, I make this for many of our Sunday lunches… I just love it.
4. Sabudana Khichadi – I have yet to find a person who does not like this amazing khichadi. Its awesome!
5. Tiramisu – This is the best Italian dessert I have had so far! And what more, I can make the authentic recipe at home :-)
