Mudda Pappu

In Mudda Pappu, mudda can be reffered to as thick and pappu means dal. A thick dal delicacy of Andhra Cuisine. Hot steamed white rice with a dollop of ghee when mixed with mudda pappu with a piece of Avakaya Pachadi takes you on a delectable and mesmerizing journey. This combo not only pamper your taste buds but also leaves you with a sensuous enjoyment. Simple to make recipe with not only include two handy ingredients but also two simple steps. I learnt to dry roast the dal from my Mom-in-law. Dry roasting the dal gives a strong and sharp flavour to the recipe. Try it to taste it.

This recipe is going to participate in Recipes For The Rest Of Us event hosted by Ramki of One Page Cookbooks and also to My Legume Love Affair Sixth Helping hosted by Suganya of Tasty Palettes , Event by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup Tuvar dal/Red Gram/Kandi Pappu
  • Salt to taste

PREPERATION:

  • Dry roast the tuvar dal and pressure cook it with a drop of oil.
  • After dal is completely cooked add salt and mash it with wooden smasher or spoon.
  • Last but not least add your 'love' to make the dish 'YUMMY'.

You keep reminding me that I have to get over my fear of the pressure cooker.
Dry roasting the dal is a great idea, it must make it very nutty indeed. Very creative!
